Dear Parents,
My name is Derek Haroldson and I have the privilege to be your child’s 4-Year-Old Kindergarten teacher. I am delighted to have your child in my class. We are going to have a great year!
I was born and raised in Prairie du Sac, WI. I graduated from UW-Whitewater in 1995 with a degree in Elementary Education. I received my Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 2002. I received the Herb Kohl Fellowship Award in 2010.
This will be my 15th year teaching kindergarten, and it is truly a privilege to work for the Iola-Scandinavia School District. It is an honor to serve others. In the past, I have coached boys’ basketball and track. I also ran a basketball clinic on Saturday mornings for elementary age students for over twenty years.
My wife and I just had our first baby in August. Being a new dad is an amazing experience, and I love every minute of it. We live in New London, where we also have two cats and a parakeet. We also like to travel, as we’ve been to Haiti three times together to help and serve the people and children in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
I look forward to working with you, learning with you, and growing with you as we continue to do great things here at Iola-Scandinavia Elementary.
