| View From Highway 49 |
This photo is taken from Highway 49 looking at the northeast corner of this school forest. It is approxomatly 3 acres of wooded area and includes a school prairie as well. |
| Wooded Area View From South End |
This view of the wooded area is taken near the south border of this property. The woods consists of a combination of hardwoods and pines. |
| Wooded Area View From North End |
This view is from the northern edge of the school forest. As you can see, there is a large amount of growth in this area that makes it difficult to travel through. One of our first priorities on this property will be to make it easier to walk through the wooded areas. Although it may not be visible in this photo, several patches of Poison Ivy are located in this wooded area and will need to be destroyed before it can be used safely. |
| Old Trail |
Many years ago, a trail was established in this wooded area. However, after years of growth and lack of use, the trail has all but disappeared. One of our first goals with this property is to reestablish a trail system through this property in order to make it more user friendly. |
| Clean Fill Area |
Since this area was not historically used by teachers or students, a small section of it has been used to store some clean fill items such as broken concrete. It is in an area that can be easily avoided by students as they explore the wooded areas. |
| School Prairie |
Developed by a group of devoted students with the guidance of one of our elementary teachers Rhonda Fechter, our school prairie is one of the areas that has been used quite often by our students and staff. |
| School Prairie Enterence |
The school prairie area is surounded by a fence. Here at its enterence, three benches have been made for people to relax on or students to use during discussions. A trail was once established through the prairie, but over the years it has become difficult to see. This is the only area in any of our school forest properties where physical structures have been added to improve the property. |
| Wooded Area Viewed From Prairie |
This is the view of the wooded area looking east from the top of the hill where the school prairie is located. |
